Delaney Nelson
Biochemistry major
Biography
My name is Delaney Nelson and I am a third-year biochemistry major. I am interested in structural characterization of Alzheimer’s-causing amyloid proteins. Using Raman spectroscopy, it is my hope to be able to distinguish different fibril polymorphs based on differences in low-frequency vibrational modes. This characterization is significant as it is hypothesized that these polymorphs can bring about different cytotoxic effects. Outside of the lab, I write for UVM’s alternative newsmag The Water Tower, listen to music almost one hundred percent of the time, and strive not to take the Vermont outdoors for granted.
